One of the few remaining tall fig trees alongside the Kinabatangan in Borneo.
Most of Sabah's primary forest has been destroyed in the logging for hardwoods and for palm oil plantations. Sabah's remaining rainforest is now secondary (shorter) and less than 20% of Borneo's primary rainforest remains.
Figs provide a lot of food for frugivorous animals, including endangered primates such as Orangutans and many other bird and primate species.
